In September we reported that the updated Gmail for iOS7 was no longer correctly pushing notifications. Within the app, users were supposed to have the option of getting notifications only for mail filed within the Primary tab, or from All tabs (or none). However, selecting "Primary Only" resulted in no notifications being sent at all. Therefore, Gmail users on iOS were given no choice but to receive notifications for all incoming messages...
The iOS app for Gmail is no longer offering push notifications for new email messages under normal circumstances. The issue has been noted in Google Product Forums so Google is aware of the issue. It's not yet clear if it's an issue with the Gmail app or iOS7, though it is assumed that it will require a bug fix and update to the Gmail app.
Like so many other apps, HootSuite for Facebook & Twitter has been updated to be fully compatible with iOS7. With the upgrade comes a complete facelift, icon included, to bring a great new look to the social media management app. This has become, without a doubt, one of my favorite apps to use, and has completely replaced the native Twitter app for me.
