Once you have been using HootSuite to manage your social media activity for a while, you’re going to want to set up reports and systems to measure your success. We’re going to review how to set those reports up in one of our HootSuite Series posts, but before we do, you need to make sure that you’ve connected your Google Analytics account to your HootSuite account.
Log into your HootSuite dashboard (http://hootsuite.com/dashboard) and click on the Analytics button in the left menu.
HootSuite provides a series of reports and report templates. Click on Google Analytics and then click on the Add Google account button.
You will need to log into your Google account in order to authenticate it. Once finished, you will be able to create a Google Analytics report or add Google Analytics data to more comprehensive reports.
As I mentioned, we are going to dive into HootSuite analytics in a separate post, but use examples might include comparing how much traffic HootSuite shares to Twitter have generated to your site as compared to Twitter overall. While I use HootSuite to share my new posts, much of my Twitter traffic actually comes as a result of Triberr or Buffer shares, but it would be interesting to see exactly how much, and which shares were the most effective.
