Foursquare provides businesses with a dedicated app

You are here: Home / Social Media Articles / Foursquare provides businesses with a dedicated app

January 29, 2013 //  by Mike Allton

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Foursquare announced today that they have released a new app just for business owners. Like Facebook’s Pages, the app allows businesses to log in and manage their venues. The app supports multiple venues, and even allows the business to post status updates and respond to tips or comments as that business.

The Foursquare for Business app also allows business owners to post and manage their specials. If you aren’t already using specials through Foursquare, use this opportunity to try one right away. Foursquare specials accomplish two things:

  • Entice customers to give you their business and return for more (like any coupon or special)
  • Reward customers for checking in to your business on the Foursquare platform

Keep in mind that every time someone checks in to your Foursquare venue, that check in is seen by everyone they’re friends with on Foursquare. Even better, if your special is good enough, your customers will want to share it with all their friends and may post it to Facebook or Twitter for you.

Manage Venue Activity with Foursquare for Business

Finally, using the new app, businesses can quickly log in and see analytics on their venues. You can switch back and forth easily between venues, just make sure that you’ve claimed all of your venues through Foursquare.com. If you haven’t yet, there’s a simple verification process to go through.

The Foursquare for Business app is currently available on iPhone and Android. Download it here for iPhone, and here for Android.

What do you think? Do you have a Foursquare venue for your business? Have you ever run a special?
