Essentials of a Link Building Campaign

Link building is a process of improving website visibility and traffic. Usually, the more the links come to your site via different sources, the more traffic your site will receive. However, link building is a tedious process which requires proper allocation of resources and time. Also, awareness of effective link building techniques and their appropriate implementation can go a long way towards link popularity.

While implementing any link building technique (Article syndication, blog posting, and forum participation), the major emphasis area should be determining the value and relevance of the webpage where your link would be.

Typically, we consider Google Page Rank as an indicator of quality and authority. However, in case of link development, it should not be a parameter of website selection for backlinks. Sometimes links from PR0 could be more valuable than PR7. The reason is that a links value on a page depends on the total number of links (inbound + outbound) on that page.

In most of the cases high PR webpages carry large numbers of outbound links that reduce the effectiveness of individual links on that page, as Google recommends only 100 links per page. Although, links from authority sites such as .edu and .gov can add extra points in overall brand value of your website.

Links from relevant sites are always regarded as best and even more preferably, those of a similar theme or from the same industry. Nevertheless, links from entirely different themes can also help you if the site pointing to your site is renowned and authorized in its domain.

Always remember to monitor competitor’s websites to check their sources of backlinks and approach those sources for links to your website. This activity can reduce link building time and effort as well. Following old techniques are of course good; however it is important to be updated with new techniques and latest trends of link building.

One of the best techniques of link building is writing content related to your product / services. Submit article / blog content on directories or post it on your own professional website and promote them using social media networks. This technique can not only help you to enhance rankings, but also drive traffic and make people aware of your brand.

In short, keep your mind open while running link building campaigns and don’t ever neglect any link building opportunity.
