Your site includes the capability of setting up options for your products. Options can simply be choices a customer can make, but they can also complete complete with their own unique SKU, inventory and even pricing.
For instance, if you're selling a t-shirt, you will likely want to give your customers an option for size. Available options may include S, M, L or XL. You may want to have a unique SKU for each size, and you may want to charge an extra $2.00 for XL orders.
In this example, the "attribute" is size and the "options" are S, M, L and XL.
Attributes must be set up before a product is created. Available options are then added to the attribute much like category terms. The SKU, Inventory and upcharge fields are completely optional. The idea is that an attribute for "size" can be re-used over and over throughout the site for various products. Options can have a default cost, but that can also be adjusted at the individual product level, so you can charge even more for an XL sweatshirt than you did for the t-shirt.
Once the attribute is set up, we can create a product and then add the attribute to that product. When we do, we can pick and choose which options are available for that specific product, as well as unique SKU, prices and inventory for those versions of the product, if we want to.
There is no limit to the number of attributes or options that your site can have. Additional attributes or options can be added at any time. In order to set this up for you, we need to know your initial attributes and options. If you're unclear whether something is an attribute or an option or something else, just ask!
