Google held their 6th annual developers conference this week called Google I/O 13, and during the keynote address, some amazing new features and developments were announced. A lot of time was spent discussing Android, Chrome and Google Maps, but I wanted to focus on the developements that matter most to businesses and social media users, including these improvements to Google+ and Google Search.

More and more business owners have started to recognize that Google is no longer providing all of the keyword data that it used to within Google Analytics. If you monitor your website analytics regularly, you may have noticed that your Keyword report is showing more (not provided) than other keywords. This has search engine marketers and business owners more than a little concerned! Why aren't these words being provided, and what can we do about it?

Google Search app updated

Google Search app updated, improved voice recognition

Google released version 2.5 of the Google Search app today for iOS and announced it in a company blog post as "Google's most advanced voice search." According to the update, the release:

  • Updated Google Search for iPhone 5
  • Improved Voice Search

It went on to state that the voice search makes it possible for users to simply say what they want and get results without typing. Voice recognition is faster and significantly improved. When searching, users can also get the answers and results spoken back to them.
